It's the most popular show on American television, with numerous spin-offs in other countries. The contestants dazzle us each week with talent and winning personalities.

But two of American idol's Top 12 finalists deserve even more admiration: Elliott Yamin and Kevin Covais both have Type 1 diabetes. In fact, Yamin wears an insulin pump.

Hooray for these two young men, both deserving of the term 'idol.' They offer even more proof that diabetes does not have to stand in the way of your dreams, and in fact, can even help inspire you to make them come true.
