The Sounds of...Insulin?
Filed in archive Fun on April 18, 2006
First, a big thanks to Amy of Diabetes Mine for digging up this fascinating story. (By the way, if you haven't made stopping by Diabetes Mine a daily habit, you really should. It's fabulous.)
Over the years, composers have sought to represent all sorts of items through music: bumblebees, waterfalls, wild animals. But what is the sound of...insulin?
That's right, insulin! Creative composer Todd Barton came up with the wacky--but intriguing-- idea to record music representing several biochemicals. If you've ever wondered what insulin sounds like, give it a listen!
Barton's work has been featured at the Smithsonian, and if you're a fan, you can order the CD at his website.
