Take Control Of Diabetes
It's always nice to read some encouragement. The media constantly bombards us with dire statistics and predictions regarding the epidemic nature of diabetes; the way they portray it, diabetes sometimes seems as easy to 'catch' as the common cold. Maybe we need to remind ourselves more often that diabetes is preventable. (And if you already have it, you can still improve your health and symptoms.)

But here's some good news: Most cases of Type 2 -- once called "adult onset" -- are preventable. You can head off the disease with lifestyle changes, says Dr. Robert Rizza, president of the american diabetes associationlinks. "In fact, if you stay lean and fit, you reduce your changes of getting the disease by 95 percent. It's almost totally preventable."

The prescription? Diet and exercise.

Not glamorous, but extremely effective. And it's much cheaper than Byetta.

This article provides some helpful tips on prevention.
