Sisters Share Love, Diabetes
Filed in archive Family Matters on December 7, 2006
Sisters everywhere have special bonds, and these two little girls are no exception. They share another bond not commonly found between all siblings in one family: diabetes. Lauren and Cassie Dunlap handle their conditions with bravery and spunk.
They take care of themselves with confidence that would baffle many adults.
And their caregivers attribute the sisters' attitudes to their mother.
Since she first noticed her girls' symptoms such as "extra potty trips" and craving water, Angela Dunlap has been committed to getting them the care they need and the knowledge to manage that care themselves.
Their good health and positive attitude can be credited to their mother, whose devotion shines through in statements like this one:
"My first reaction when I suspected they had diabetes was to get something done," calm, soft-spoken Angela said. "I've always felt the key in life was being educated."
You're an inspiration, Cassie and Lauren!
