Relief For Diabetes-Related Leg Pain
Filed in archive Treatment on January 30, 2007
Pain in the legs, along with nerve damage, are sadly quite common among many diabetics. Now, a new surgery may help to improve the symptoms of this debilitation.
Neuropathy affects mostly people with diabetes, though it can happen from other ailments, in Teresa's case, mercury poisoning.
During surgery, doctors cut into the problem area to relieve pressure on the nerves.
"This surgery is beneficial for a lot of people because there's nothing else they can do," Steck says.
After the surgery Teresa was a little groggy.
"I could feel him tickling. It feels a little more sensitive than it did before," she says.
She is on her way to getting back on her feet.
"I can't even express what it means to me. I'll have my life back," Teresa says.
