On Other Forms of Insulin

Researchers are continuously looking and working on the development of oral insulin.

Researchers at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) are leading the Canadian component of a multinational clinical study aimed at preventing or delaying type 1 diabetes.
The Type 1 Diabetes TrialNet study will examine whether taking insulin orally can prevent or delay diabetes in people who are at risk for the disease.
If you check older posts in the blog, the following talks about oral insulin:

And who can forget the popularity of inhaled insulin? Pfizer's Exubera being the most popular of them all.
But there is bad news, Battle Diabetes Blog reported that Pfizer has discontinued Exubera:
Pfizer announced on October 18th that they will no longer be producing Exubera, their announcement did make it clear that their discontinuation of the Inhaled Insulin Device decision was not based on any safety issues, it was totally due to lack of interest.
In other words, they were not making enough money off of Exubera to make it worth producing the product any longer.
I am surprised by the disinterest. And I thought diabetics find insulin injection tiresome?
