Non-Medical Staff Approved To Treat Diabetic Students

When a bill recently passed that would allow non-medical staff in schools to treat diabetic students, parents protested. Could someone, such as a teacher or secretary with no medical training, be depended upon to administer injections or adjust insulin pumps?
Supporters of the bill cite limited medical staff in schools as the reason for this development.
