New Year, Diabetes and Low T
Filed in archive Resources on January 8, 2009

www.IsItLowT.com is happy to share with you additional resources for men and women who suspect their male partners have Low T, including a new toll-free phone number and updated Web site.
It may be a touchy subject for men, but a large waistline could be at the center of his health issues in the New Year. Research suggests that an increasing mid-section in men may trigger other health problems like depression and even low testosterone (with symptoms like sexual dysfunction, fatigue and muscle loss). As you may know, men with Type 2 diabetes or who are obese are more than twice as likely to also have low testosterone compared to men without these diseases. Low testosterone is estimated to affect up to 13 million men in the United States age 45 and older, but less than 10 percent are currently receiving treatment.
There are new resources offered to men and their female partners seeking information about low testosterone in men that include:
- 1-866-996-LowT (5698), a new, toll-free phone number providing access to facts about low testosterone and an interactive symptom questionnaire.
- www.IsItLowT.com, a recently enhanced Web site about low testosterone containing downloadable materials and a special section for spouses.
They also just released some interesting survey results reinforcing the women's perspective on their male partner's health: (Additional results noted below)
- Nine out of 10 women in the United States are unaware that if their husband or male partner experiences symptoms like fatigue, depressed mood and increased waistline it could be related to a condition known as low testosterone, or Low T.
- The survey of women with husbands or male partners over 40, found that women are twice as likely as men to prompt their partners to have an annual medical exam. Further, 65 percent of women said that worrying about their husband or male partner's overall health will affect their anxiety levels in 2009.
Please let them know what you think of the updated www.IsItLowT.com and toll-free number, and if this is a health topic you're interested in highlighting on your blog as many men and women make a resolution to lose weight and get healthy in 2009!

I wasn't aware of the term low-T. It is certainly something to take notice of with the warning signs.
