"Mr. Diabetes" Andy Mandell Continues to Walk for Diabetes Education

Self-proclaimed "Mr. Diabetes": Andy Mandell, executive director of Defeat Diabetes has been walking the perimeter states of the U.S. since 2002, despite losing feeling in his legs and feet from diabetes, just to educate the people about diabetes.
By his count, Mandell has talked with some 56,000 people about diabetes, and taken 17,000 steps since he started in 2002.
"I'm out here to let people know about the risk factors, complications and the high cost of diabetes. It's an epidemic out of control," said Mandell.
Mandell promotes prevention of type-2 diabetes by encouraging proper diet and exercise.
