Mediterranean Diet Reduces Diabetes Risk

The Mediterranean Diet has already been know to be good for heart health and (as some studies suggests) is beneficial against Alzheimer's disease too.

Now, Mediterranean diet is being linked by a new study to reduce diabetes risk.
Now scientists in Spain have found that it also offers a defence against the epidemic of diabetes associated with growing rates of obesity and the consumption of high-fat fast foods.
Researchers who monitored the eating habits of 13,000 graduates from the University of Navarra for eight years from 1999 to 2007 found those who stuck closely to a Mediterranean diet had an 83 per cent lower risk of developing diabetes.
I really find the ultimate healthy diet this Mediterranean diet. This diet contains lots of virgin olive oil, high quantities of fruit, vegetables, wholegrain pulses and cereals, legumes, nuts and fish. That is really one healthy diet, don't you think?
