Is N-acetylglucosamine (GlcNAc) already available as supplement?
Filed in archive Diet , Research , Treatment by Gloria Gamat on October 8, 2007
In an older post, supplementation of N-acetylglucosamine (GlcNAc) has been found to be able to inhibit autoimmune diseases such as multiple sclerosis and type 1 diabetes.

Is N-acetylglucosamine (GlcNAc) already available as supplement?

However, the said study was conducted in mice.

A reader emailed me asking if N-acetylglucosamine (GlcNAc) is already available as supplement. I too couldn't find anything in the internet. Since the study was conducted on mice, maybe studies in humans are in still on-going or in the pipeline- which explains why supplement forms aren't available yet.

Just in case anybody knows anything, please let us know. Thank you very much
