Female Diabetics At Increased Risk For Bone Fractures
Filed in archive Information on September 28, 2006
A new study, as well as many studies before it, have shown convincing evidence that female diabetics are at a higher risk than the general population to develop bone fractures. As this can lead to serious injury, it's important to be cautious.
Conclusion: Women with type 2 diabetes are at increased risk for fractures. This risk is also seen among black and non-Hispanic white women after adjustment for multiple risk factors including frequent falls and increased BMD (in a subset).
