Diabetics Say 'No' To Insulin
Filed in archive Research on April 14, 2006
In a worldwide study recently conducted my Pfizer, troubling results emerged: 64% of Type 2 diabetics who have managed their diabetes for more than 10 years still haven't achieved optimal blood sugar levels.
The problem is present in both those who manage their diabetes with insulin injections, and those who prefer the use of oral treatments.
With diabetes already the #4 killer in the world (and rising) this obviously is something that needs to be studied further. The study also found a surprisingly large number of diabetics who refused to take insulin because of the need for injections, despite insulin (so far) having been shown to be the most effective treatment. The popularity of 'natural' treatments is rising, such as the use of bitter melon.
You can read the complete results here. What do you think? Do you avoid insulin because of injections? Would you prefer a natural treatment?

To James, smoking is pretty likely to increase your blood pressure, which is also likely to be higher as a diabetic, and will lead to heart disease and stroke. Your body has enough to deal with being diabetic, so leave off the tobacco. As to the article, I resisted starting insulin for several months, but know I would have no control with it. I only take Lantus, which is notmally taken at bedtime and smoothes out my blood sugar. I still watch my diet and exercise.

Well i guess anyone would prefer natural treatments for better results, it makes sense. But i believe it's far more expensive too, so right now i cannot fix my dilemma.
