The book Diabetes Comfort Food by Johanna Burkhard is something I found featured at the Dallas Morning News.
The point of Johanna Burkhard's Diabetes comfort food isn't that diabetics need to forgo comfort foods. Rather, it's that such foods can be included in a diabetic's repertoire with a little thoughtful planning.
She speaks particularly of the comfort foods of her own past, which may be slightly different from yours and mine. This, because Ms. Burkhard is Canadian (which explains the sage-bread stuffing with her turkey and her fondness for maple syrup).
But her orientation comes off as a plus because she's adding to the variety of dishes that can be incorporated into a diabetic lifestyle. Each recipe provides not only nutritional information, but U.S. and Canadian exchanges.
We all know that planning what to cook or cooking for a diabetic is awfully difficult. Diabetes Comfort Food is one book that can help us in that department.
