Could Your Grandmother Give You Diabetes?

and diabetes are linked. Scientists have traced diabetes back to the mothers of patients who may have eaten poorly during pregnancy. But now there's evidence that the ill effect of poor nutrition can reach across generations...all the way back to your grandmother. The study showed that granddaughters were particularly vulnerable if their grandmothers' diet was not up to scratch during pregnancy. The effect seemed to be less pronounced for grandsons.
Sometimes it hardly seems we have a fighting chance: it's one thing to control our own diets, but our mother's and grandmother's too? Impossible. I suppose this is even more evidence that the health choices we make affect more than ourselves.
