Comic Books to Fight Diabetes
Filed in archive Education , Fun , Inspiration , Resources on May 29, 2007
Brothers battling with diabetes - 13-year-old Kamaal Washington and his 11-year-old brother, Malcolm - have created comic book/characters that are meant to spread awareness about diabetes and empower the people who suffer from the said disease.
[The comic books tell the stories of children who learn they have diabetes and find themselves visited by Dr. Diabetes. But his wicked intentions are foiled by the heroes of the comics, Omega Boy and later, Mighty Boy.]
The comic books are sold online (for 5$ each) but will be available soon at Walgreens and CVS stores in the Kansas City area and comic book shops across the United States.

When the news broke last month that significant questions had been raised about an increase in the risk of a heart attack for users of Avandia, I followed the reports with a bit more avidity than most.
