Cod Liver Oil May Reduce Type 1 Diabetes Risks
Filed in archive Treatment on October 31, 2006
You may remember being forced to gag down the horrible oil as a child...now research suggests that cod liver oil may have a beneficial effect on Type 1 diabetes. That's good news...unless you're the kid who has to swallow the stuff.
Taking cod liver oil early in life appears to reduce the chances that children will develop insulin-dependent ("type 1") diabetes, researchers report. The protection may possibly come from the anti-inflammatory effects of long-chain n-3 fatty acids found in cod liver oil.
