Coast To Coast For Diabetes Awareness
Filed in archive Inspiration on August 14, 2006
Ginny Bowman was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes. Forty years later, strong and healthy, she and her son and two nieces are conducting a coast to coast bike ride across the U.S. to raise awareness of the disease. Now that's inspirational.
In addition to promoting awareness and meeting people, the group has ridden through 118-degree heat, climbed the mountains, escaped heavy rains and taken in a rodeo. Their average travel covers between 50 to 80 miles a day, but they have done as many as 100 miles in a day, Bowman said.
What better proof is there that diabetes doesn't have to stand in the way of accomplishing major things? Congratulations, and thank you, Ginny.
