Circumcision Recommended For Diabetic Men
Filed in archive Treatment on July 30, 2006
Many male diabetics suffer from a condition known as balanitis, a chronic inflammation of the foreskin of the penis. This condition is often brought about by excess yeast, which is common in diabetics. The 'women's' version of this would be chronic yeast infections.
As balanitis can be frightening and uncomfortable, as well as possibly lead to severe infections, some doctors believe that diabetic males should consider circumcision. The procedure eliminates the foreskin, and thus eliminates yeast irritation.
But urologist Dr azad Hassan A. Razack says that if a man is diabetic, he might want to get circumcised.
"This is to prevent balanitis, which can occur in any man, but diabetics are more prone to it.
"Diabetes can make balanitis more likely," says Dr Azad, "and diabetics are prone to infections, which is why I recommend circumcision."
Would you consider getting an operation, even one considered to be relatively 'minor,' to prevent diabetic complications?

Circumcision is an extreme treatment for ballanitis. Proper hygiene helps with reducing the risk of yeast infections. Do not wash with soap, but rinse under the foreskin daily. Soap removes the good bacteria. Also, a lot of the same anti-yeast infection tips that women rely upon work for men also. Yoghurt is your friend.

Circumcised men get balanitis too btw, but they don't get more of their penis cut off.
The urologist they're quoting is from Malaysia where most men get circumcised for religious reasons.
See the link to read about a diabetic man who got circumcised and regretted it.
