CDC: Mississipi Remains Most Obese State

Filed in archive Information , News by Gloria Gamat on July 17, 2008

First, I was hesitant whether to post this at Straight From The Doc or here. Then I decided better here since obesity has a LOT to do with type-2 diabetes.

Okay...I can't remember how many times I said here that obesity is the American epidemic that prevails? Countless. It's not from me alone, experts and statistics are saying so. Then like a domino effect...obesity will lead to cardiovascular conditions, type 2 diabetes, Metabolic syndromelinks and the likes.

So here's the verdict: according to the CDC...Mississipi remains the most obese state in the U.S.!

The South tips the scales again as the nation's fattest region, according to a new government survey.

More than 30 percent of adults in Mississippi, Alabama and Tennessee are considered obese. In part, experts blame Southern eating habits, poverty and demographic groups that have higher obesity rates.

Well I wouldn't be surprised. It's the diet and the lifestyle, folks. That has gotta change...else research on treatments and genetic will be a waste. Need I say more?
