Good news for caffeine lovers: drinking coffee may help to lower the risk of acquiring Type 2 diabetes in women. If the study has any merit, it may be one more step towards improving the worldwide epidemic of Type 2 diabetes (20 million cases in America alone) as well as aiding in future prevention.

From the Times of India:Moderate consumptionlinks of coffee every day may lower the risk of type-2 diabetes in younger and middle-aged women, says a study.

It seems that one cup of coffee a day equated to a 13 per cent reduction of type 2 diabetes risk, compared with 42 per cent reduction for two to three cups a day and 47 per cent reduction for four or more cups a day, the researchers said.

The researchers admit they are unsure exactly how coffee affects the risk of type 2 diabetes. They warn against sudden increased coffee consumption to prevent the disease.

"More research needs to be done to clarify the link between drinking coffee and the risk of type-2 diabetes," they clarified.
How do you feel about the option of more 'natural' remedies like this one, as compared to prescribed medications? Which option do you feel more comfortable with?
