Filed in archive Diabetics' Device , Notable on May 9, 2010

Bayer has launched a new blood glucose meter with kids in mind.
Bayer's DIDGET Meter is the first and only blood glucose meter that connects directly to Nintendo DS and DS Lite and helps kids manage their diabetes by rewarding them for consistent testing habits with points to unlock new game levels and options.
Designed for kids aged 4 to 14, the DIDGET meter links play with purpose for children with diabetes by tapping into kids' existing passion for handheld gaming.
According to Dr. Larry Deeb, pediatric endocrinologist and medical director for the Diabetes Center at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital in Florida and a paid consultant for Bayer: "As the first meter truly designed with kids in mind, the DIDGET meter can transform a child's blood sugar testing experience from something they have to do into something they want to do."
Bayer's DIDGET meter is now available for purchase in the United States through CVS.com, Drugstore.com and Walgreens.com.
