'At Risk' People Must Take Special Precautions Against Diabetes

With all the research being conducted daily on diabetes, many scientists are still baffled by what leads to the development of this "mysterious" disease. The one thing they can agree on is that there are common symptoms, and there is a need for alarm--and fighting back--once they arise.

"My hope is that we can take the information (from the research) to predict who is at greatest risk and if we can prevent kidney disease at all," she said. "Of course, my desire is that we can prevent diabetes all together."
