The 5th World Congress on the Insulin Resistance Syndrome is an annual gathering that brings together national and international thought leaders in both clinical and research settings in order to discuss primarily to the clinical aspects of the Insulin Resistance Syndrome, its diagnosis and potential treatments.

Insulin resistance is a condition wherein the tissues of the body stop responding to insulin, thereby the body makes more and more insulin but without the body using sugar properly as a consequence.

Insulin resistance is assocciated to other health condiitons such as diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and heart attack. Most of such conditions together are what doctors call insulin resistance syndrome.

The deadline for submission of abstracts to the 5th WCIRS is on August 15, 2007. Register before September 11 to avail of early bird rates.
